Spotlight: Troye Sivan

Blue Neighbourhood is the debut full-length album from international chart-topping Australian artist Troye Sivan. "It's all autobiographical," says Sivan. "It takes place in both the suburbs of Perth where I've grown up, which I consider to be my blue neighbourhood, but then also in this fast-paced, crazy, whirlwind life that I'm now living in hotel rooms and planes." At age 14, in the sanctuary of his bedroom, South African-born Troye Sivan started experimenting with songwriting and exploring the world of YouTube. He launched his YouTube channel with videos of musical performances, originals and covers, and later began uploading weekly vlogs, which quickly garnered a loyal international audience. Then, in 2013 he wrote, produced and uploaded his first proper song, "The Fault In Our Stars," proving the launch pad for Sivan's now burgeoning international music career. His first proper EP, 2014's TRXYE, topped iTunes charts in 66 countries, and debuted at No. 5 on the Billboard album chart. In 2014 Time magazine named him one of the most influential teenagers. When he announced the imminent release of his Wild EP in 2015, pre-orders instantly sent the album to the top of the charts in 40 countries, including Australia, the United States, Russia and Brazil, plus Top 5 in another 25 nations. Its actual release was met with exuberant praise from the likes of GRAMMY winners Taylor Swift and Sam Smith, and the EP immediately topped the ARIA album charts on debut, and matched its predecessor in reaching No. 5 on the Billboard album chart. Troye followed up the EP with his full-length debut Blue Neighbourhood which went on sell nearly a million copies worldwide. There is no doubt: Troye Sivan is a true global contemporary pop phenomenon. The GRAMMY Museum welcomes Sivan to the Clive Davis Theater for an intimate conversation surrounding his debut album, and rising career, moderated by Scott Goldman, Vice President of the GRAMMY Foundation and MusiCares. The conversation will be followed by a special performance.
