In October 2009 the GRAMMY Museum debuted Michael Jackson: A Musical Legacy, the temporary memorial display that was launched following Jackson's death in June 2009. The Museum’s current tribute to Jackson resides on the fourth floor and features select artifacts that portray Jackson’s career during the time when his hit album Thriller was released. Featured artifacts include Jackson's trademark sequin gloves and items worn in the music video for his hit song “Thriller."

Artifacts on display include:

  • Never-before-displayed artifacts from the 1984 Victory Tour, including one of Jackson's sequin gloves and the fedora worn during the live performance of "Billie Jean"
  • The red leather jacket from "Thriller"

"The overwhelming response to our earlier exhibits speaks to Jackson's unparalleled place in music history and the public's deep connection to his music.  We're excited to share even more of Jackson's life and legacy with his fans and we hope it serves as a fitting tribute to one of the most significant entertainers in music history."

- Bob Santelli, Founding Executive Director of the GRAMMY Museum
