A forefather of Chicano Rock, Ritchie Valens maximized his tragically short eight month career and paved the way for Latino artists of today. The History of Rock and Roll: Ritchie Valens will teach students about “The Day the Music Died” as well as the history of the Hispanic Rock and Roll movement. The program will also discuss the stories behind Valens’ classics “La Bamba” and “Donna” and show how important Valens’ legacy is to Southern California.
