Featuring a Panel Discussion with John Doe, Tom DeSavia, Allison Anders, and Keith Morris
Jun 4 , 2019 Doors: 7 p.m. Show: 7:30PM
Please join us in welcoming acclaimed musician and co-founder of L.A. punk band X, John Doe, along with SVP of A&R at Concord Music Publishing, Tom DeSavia, for a panel discussion moderated by Scott Goldman about the new book, More Fun in the New World. The discussion will also include a variety of panelists featured in the book, including award-winning screenwriter and film/TV director Allison Anders and singer, songwriter, political activist, and author Keith Morris.
Picking up where their bestselling, GRAMMY-nominated 2016 book Under the Big Black Sun left off, More Fun in the New World explores the years 1982 to 1987, covering the dizzying pinnacle of L.A.'s punk rock movement as its stars took to the national—and often international—stage. Detailing the eventual splintering of punk into various sub-genres, John Doe and Tom DeSavia's west coast punk history portrays the rich cultural diversity of the movement and its characters, the legacy of the scene, how it affected other art forms, and ultimately influenced mainstream pop culture.
A copy of More Fun in the New World will be given for every ticket purchased during the American Express presale.
