Jun 26 , 2019 Doors: 7 p.m. Show: 7:30PM
Just two days before the release of their new album, No Good Deed, Mindi Abair and The Boneshakers will stop by the GRAMMY Museum to perform a set of songs and discuss the making of their new album with moderator Scott Goldman. Following the program, Mindi and the band will be signing CDs and merchandise for fans. Attendees will also have the opportunity to own and hear the new album before its official release to the public on June 28.
With their recent 2019 BMA Nomination for Best Instrumentalist: Horn, and their eight 2018 Independent Blues Awards, including Artist of the Year and Best New Artist CD, Mindi Abair and The Boneshakers have accumulated a respectable amount of awards. Their new album, No Good Deed, out June 28, is the band’s most multidimensional album to date, featuring an enthralling array of original material along with some cleverly reworked covers of songs from the Rascals, Etta James and others. Working with acclaimed producer Kevin Shirley (Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, Joe Bonamassa), the album highlights the band members’ diverse talents and reflects the longtime camaraderie between lead vocalist and renowned saxophonist Mindi Abair and The Boneshakers’ Randy Jacobs (guitar and vocals), Rodney Lee (keys), Ben White (bass, vocals), and Third Richardson (drums, vocals).
Before joining musical forces with The Boneshakers in 2014, Mindi Abair had already made her mark as an award-winning sax player, with two GRAMMY nominations and eight records to her credit. Abair was the featured saxophonist on the hit series American Idol and has toured with and/or recorded with Aerosmith, Gregg Allman, Smokey Robinson, Duran Duran, Keb’ Mo’, the Backstreet Boys, Lalah Hathaway, Booker T. Jones, Max Weinberg, and many more. She has garnered ten #1 radio hits, six Top 5 solo records and two #1 spots on the Billboard album charts. No one since Junior Walker has brought saxophone and vocals in one package to the forefront of modern music, with a raucous tone and dynamic stage presence like Mindi Abair.
