A Very Special Christmas is celebrating its 25th Anniversary this year. Since 1987, the biggest and brightest voices in the recording industry have generously lent their time and talents to Special Olympics to create the holiday album series ‘A Very Special Christmas,’ the single most successful benefit recording series in musical history generating more than $109 million in royalties to benefit Special Olympics. Support from the series has enabled Special Olympics to implement programs worldwide, from the United States to Timor Leste, China to Uganda, Cambodia to Haiti and more. In the United States, these funds have also supported Special Olympics programs in urban areas such as New York City, Philadelphia, New Orleans and Los Angeles. In celebration of the 25th Anniversary, Special Olympics has two new album releases – A Very Special Christmas 25 Years – Bringing Joy to the World and A Very Special Christmas – Bringing Peace on Earth. The GRAMMY Museum’s is commemorating the 25 years of the “A Very Special Christmas” album series, the single most successful benefit recording series in musical history, which has generated more than $109 million in royalties to support Special Olympics with an outdoor exhibition. The Museum will also feature a display in their lobby and a short feature film about the “A Very Special Christmas” series and its impact on the Special Olympics Movement in their Clive Davis Theater. As part of the event, the GRAMMY Museum distributed free admission tickets to Special Olympics athletes, supporters and event participants.
