LBJ Presidential Library Civil Rights Summit
The GRAMMY Museum was honored to participate in the LBJ Presidential Library Civil Rights Summit on April 8, 9 and 10, 2014. Over the course of the Summit, the Museum celebrated the music of the Civil Rights Movement with legendary artists Mavis Staples and Graham Nash as well as taught educators how to use music as a gateway to learning in their classrooms. The historic Civil Rights Summit brought leaders of the Civil Rights Movement, past and present, to Austin to speak candidly about the issues of the past 50 years as well as those of today. Additionally, President Jimmy Carter, President Bill Clinton, President George W. Bush and President Barack Obama were in attendance to deliver keynote speeches.
