Woodstock: A People's History
Did you go to Woodstock in 1969? If so, we'd like to share your story.
In commemoration of the 40th Anniversary of the Woodstock Music & Arts Festival, The GRAMMY Museum is preparing a unique exhibition and we'd like you to be a part of it.
Featuring the materials and memories of people who were there, Woodstock: A People's History will be a one-of-a-kind, personal look into this pivotal cultural event — and the times and music of which it remains such an important symbol.
What We're Looking For
We are actively searching for any and all Woodstock-related materials from people who attended the festival, or fully intended to (had a ticket or were underway without a ticket) but were unable to do so.
View list of desired materialsThe goal is to exhibit material from people who were actually at (or on their way to) Woodstock, helping illustrate the "people's history" of this major cultural event.
If you think your material has a story to tell, even just a small one, please let us know! We are considering any and all materials of interest.
Any and all materials accepted for the show are on loan only, and will be returned to you after the close of the exhibit. All materials accepted will be fully insured by the Museum while in our care, and cared for using Museum best practices.
How to Participate (Deadline is Friday, July 10, 2009.)
Notes on Submitting Your Material
To aid in the exhibit selection process, only entries submitted electronically will be considered. Please no phone calls or regular mail, and please do not send your material unless and until you are invited to do so by the Museum. The Museum is not responsible for any material sent or received without an invitation.
If Your Material is Selected
The Museum will review any and all entries upon receipt. If your material is of interest, the Museum will contact you directly using the contact information you've provided.
The Museum respectfully requests that all materials be mounted and framed by the lender prior to shipping to the Museum for display. Should your materials not already be mounted and framed, the Museum is happy to guide you in the requirements for doing so, with an eye towards long-term preservation and care.
The Museum will pay for shipping to and from the Museum, as well as insurance while the material is in our care.
To best ensure that the show opens complete and on time, the Museum respectfully requests that any and all loaned materials be shipped to arrive no later than Friday, July 10, 2009.
