INSTRUMENTS OF ART at Westfield Valencia Town Center
September 11 through October 17, 2010, The GRAMMY Museum, in conjunction with Roland Corporation US, will continue its first-ever traveling exhibit at Westfield Valencia Town Center, one of Santa Clarita valley's most popular shopping destinations. The one-of-a-kind, 1,000 square-foot exhibit, Instruments of Art, will feature 33 never-before-displayed photographs of a selection of the Museum's critically-acclaimed public programs, featuring performances by award-winning musicians, alongside a selection of Roland's state-of-the-art interactive electronic instruments.
"During its first 18 months, The GRAMMY Museum has been honored to host some of this generation's most fascinating and talented artists, and to capture many of the incredible moments on film," says the Museum's Executive Director Robert Santelli. "Now we are excited to share these slices of history, all taken by extremely talented photographers, in our first ever traveling exhibit."

The photographs on display depict a selection of the most memorable performances to grace The GRAMMY Museum's 200-seat, state-of-the-art Clive Davis Theater, with artists as noteworthy as Ringo Starr, Brian Wilson, Annie Lennox, Smokey Robinson, the Jonas Brothers, and Tom Morello. Since opening in December of 2008, the Museum has hosted an impressive series of events, including intimate onstage interviews, musical performances, film screenings, lectures, and educational workshops.
The interactive portion of Instruments of Art recreates the Roland LIVE exhibit, currently on display at The GRAMMY Museum. In both locations, Roland allows visitors to try their hand at a variety of electronic instruments, including keyboards, turntables, guitar pedals, and percussion instruments, inviting them to explore and think critically about how music is crafted.
This project is supported as part of an Arts Development Fee from the Department of Cultural Affairs, City of Los Angeles.
